Future of Ukrainian Ports: the View Inside

The Round Table “Future of Ukrainian Ports: the View Inside”, initiated by Information “Service Industrial cargoes”, was held on May 25, 2016, at the Odessa Sea Port Authority conference hall. Artur Nitsevych, Interlegal partner, participated in the Round Table. Discussion touched the most vital issues for port community. Representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, state and private stevedoring companies, industrial associations and other organizations engaged in port activity participated in the discussion.

The vivid and balanced discussion was devoted to consideration and analysis of the most vital themes for the Ukrainian port economy, such as deregulation in port industry. The Round Table participants paid special attention to discussion of forms and mechanisms of public-private partnership (PPP) implementation at the Ukrainian ports. Most of them believe that PPP is the mainstream progressive development of port economy, despite the disputes concerning its implementation forms, mechanisms and rates. Of course the Round Table touched the issues of port enterprise denationalization. At the discussion we were sure that privatization is the most effective way of denationalization in this industry. Since in each certain case all conditions shall be analyzed thoroughly, it may also awake discussions upon terms, prices, participants and other essential circumstances.
