On March, 22, Interlegal partner Arthur Nitsevych and ports & maritime project manager Rachid Bouda visited the First British-Ukrainian Maritime Industries Forum. This event gathered key transportation business players, state authorities and professional industrial associations.

Volodymyr Omelyan, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Maksim Stepanov, Odessa Region Governor, Raivis Veckagans, Head of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, Sevki Acuner, Director of EBRD representative office in Ukraine, and Helen Fazey, the UK Deputy Ambassador in Ukraine, visited the forum.

Mrs. Fazey stated: “In the UK 90% of import and export pass sea ports. British companies have tremendous experience in these matters: from port designing to financial and legal issues and security issues. I am pleased to see a large number of British companies at this forum, and I hope that this will lead to close cooperation of British companies with Ukrainian ports”.

Volodymyr Omelyan, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, in turn, highlighted the Ministry’s initiatives aimed at maritime industry development this year.

He noted: “By the new order, the Ukrainian Maritime Authority, a central authority focused in maritime industry, will be launched from August 1, 2018. Now we are drafting public-private partnership pilot projects, starting from SE “Stevedoring Company “Olvia” and SE “Kherson Commercial Sea Port”. Appropriate feasibility studies will be completed soon”.
