Interlegal on UIA 60th Congress in Budapest

Natalya Myroshnychenko, Associated Partner of Interlegal, participated in UIA 60^th Congress in Budapest on 28-30 October 2016.

For over 85 years, the Union Internationale des Avocates (UIA – International Association of Lawyers) has been defending the legal profession and facilitating international contacts, cooperation and the exchange of knowledge among lawyers, while respecting their cultural and professional diversity. Today, the UIA brings together more than two million lawyers from more than 120 countries.

The main theme of this year congress was Compliance which is one of the most crucial aspects of a company’s structure and operations. The objective of this main theme was to introduce participants to compliance and its fundamentals, the challenges to compliance, the benefits of a thorough compliance program, its building blocks, their implementation into a company’s operations, the review and reporting mechanism and internal investigations if an issue occurs, and to highlight the importance of this area of the law for the legal profession.

Natalya Myroshnychenko participated in the working sessions of the Transport Law Commission of UIA. The topic of the discussion was “Direct Claims Against Insurers” which is also one of the key issues for Interlegal transport practice. During the discussion Nataliya Myroshnychenko shared the view of the Ukrainian legislation on the topic with colleagues.

On 29^th of October Informal Dinner Reception of UIA Congress took place in Varkert Bazar located on the picturesque hill of Danube in the Buda Castle built in XIX centеry. The organizers presented local traditional dances and food allowing the participants to network in the free and friendly atmosphere.
