Odessa corporate seminar: currency liberalization and private interests of business owners

Interlegal annual seminar «International Business: Companies, Accounts and Taxes», held in Odessa, touched the issues of currency liberalization and international business specifications.
Seminar gathered nearly 80 delegates: owners and managers of logistic and commercial enterprises, IT companies, port operators and freight forwarders.

In the framework of Section 1, Interlegal partner Irina Voyevodina held the panel discussion upon choosing correct tax jurisdiction for business affairs. Participants – Christiana Achilleos (L.G. Zambartas LLC Law Offices, Cyprus), Krzysztof Kowalczyk (bsjp, Poland) and J?zsef Szigetv?ri (B?nfalvi & Szigetv?ri, Hungary) – discussed the bank approach to non-resident business in Poland and Hungary, advantages for IT companies in Georgia and other issues.

Ilias Mouzakis, Piraeus bank Management Board member, highlighted specifications of financial institution cooperation with non-residents, while Viktoria Russeva, Interlegal associate attorney, drafted the roadmap for transport, shipping, international trade and IT companies.

Section 2 was devoted to private interests of business owners, in particular, problems of the current corporate structure maintenance, tax residency issues for the Ukrainian business beneficiaries and the Ukrainian financial market development trends.

Apart from Interlegal partner Artem Skorobogatov (panel discussion moderator), Chrysanthos Fotiadis (HLB, Cyprus), Nadiya Kovtun (Piraeus bank, Ukraine) and Interlegal lawyers Daria Liashenko and Vitalii Tolstik participated in the discussion.

Finally, Section 3 touched the national legislative innovations. Interlegal lawyer Marta Sverdlikovskaya highlighted advantages for the Ukrainian business resulting from new legislation on limited liability companies, while Anna Nevmerzhitskaya (PWC, Ukraine) showed risks and options for investors due to BEPS launch in Ukraine.

Panel discussion: «Let’s talk about currency» (moderated by Interlegal partner Arthur Nitsevych) touched the launched process of currency law liberalization in Ukraine.

The following Ukrainian business representatives shared the news about bank financial monitoring, tax on withdrawn capital and other legislative initiatives: Sergey Gontarovsky (Triada Audit Company), Andrey Selyutin (Metinvest Engineering), Viktoria Olenchenko (RISOIL) and Sergey Silchenko (ILF Law firm, Ukraine, business consulting partner).
