Interlegal represented successfully the Client’s interests at the arbitration proceedings in London Maritime Arbitrators Association (LMAA). The dispute arose from the Charter Party on carriage of timber from Khabarovsk to China. During the loading, the chartered vessel was arrested by local court following the crew claims and could not sail on voyage. Later, the crew abandoned the vessel and the contact with shipowners got lost. The cargo remained on board for more than four months, thus the supply contracts were cancelled, the cargo got partially damaged and the Charterer sustained essential losses.
By the arbitrator’s award, claim of the Charterer, client of Interlegal, in respect of damage recovery in the amount exceeding 900 thousand USD, was allowed in full.
Andrey Perepelitsa, senior lawyer of Interlegal, worked upon the case.
