The international conference “Recultivation of Solid Waste Landfills, Biogas Gathering and Recovery”

   Partners of International Law Offices Natalia Shpak and Taras Shepel took part in the international conference “Recultivation of Solid Waste Landfills, Biogas Gathering and Recovery” held in Odessa on 22-23 April in the Great Hall of Odessa City Council. Taras Shepel made a speech dedicated to the taxation of the means received from sales of the emission reduction units under the Kyoto Protocol.


   The Conference was organized by Odessa City Council, Strategic Infrastructure Projects Department and Investor Relations Agency. The conference was attended by more than 50 delegates representing construction, development, investment and legal companies, scientific, research and expert establishments, international financial institutions, in particular, the World Bank and EBRD. In the course of the conference the participants shared their experience and plans on the project implementation in recultivation of solid waste landfills, biogas gathering and recovery, plans and prospects to carry out such activity in Ukraine. There was organized a trip as the presentation to view the active landfill. The most interesting for the participants became the part of the plenary meeting dedicated to sharing of experience in the project implementation, in particular, aspects of the project legal assistance, possibility to use the sales mechanisms for emission reduction units to support the project profitability and tax issues related to such transactions.
