A seafarer’s wife applied to Interlegal due to her husband’s fatal accident on board of the vessel. The Client’s goal was to receive reimbursement in a duly prescribed amount.
Interlegal project team understood delicacy of the situation and importance of resolving the issue as quickly and amicably as possible, but with full preservation of the Client’s lawful interests.
Lawyers have studied in detail an incident with the seafarer involved, have analyzed the employment contract, as well as have requested for collective agreements, acts of investigation by authorized bodies, death certificate, and – first and foremost – fixed contacts with the shipowner, P&I club and local consul in the country where the incident occurred.
Case specification was active involvement of the seafarer’s ex-wife in the process of negotiations, although she was not listed as next of kin in the seafarer’s employment contract.
Clear and prompt operation of Interlegal law team, jointly with professional analysis of the situation by P&I club representatives, facilitated resolving the situation by means of amicable reimbursement in favor of Interlegal Client – in the amount exceeding 120 thousand US dollars.
Interlegal associate attorney Ellina Romanova and lawyer Taras Dragan led the case.
