Odessa seminar discussion: logistics and prospects for container carriages

On October 25, Interlegal, jointly with the German logistic holding company HHLA and Maersk Line, held the seminar Logistics. Container carriages. Challenges.

Over 90 participants obtained practical skills upon the vital issues of container and logistic business in Black Sea Region, systematized their awareness of preventing risks in container carriages and container cargo supply chain management.
At the seminar, Roman Koloianov, Maersk Ukraine Director General, shared the experience in using TradeLens logistic block-chain platform and announced the prospect for engaging the company’s Ukrainian clients into the platform.

Anastas Kokkin, Subsidiary Company “Container Terminal Odessa” Director General, presented to participants Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) revolutionary developments upon using drones for intra-port container carriages and developing innovative transport system jointly with Hyperloop Transportation Technologies.

The future of global supply chains and container business was a keystone of panel discussion with review of non-standard situations from Black Sea container business case study. Participants were Interlegal partner Natalya Myroshnychenko and senior associate Karyna Gorovaya, Alexander Chebotarenko, Maersk Ukraine legal adviser, Viacheslav Borovskiy and Stanislav Tkachik, directors of Laman Shipping and LUKRO LTD respectively.

The second section touched new realities for sea carriages: namely the issues of transparency, foreign jurisdictions, procedures and latest modifications in the Ukrainian law.

Olena Ptashenchuk, Subsidiary Company “Container Terminal Odessa” Compliance Officer, shared specifications of compliance procedures, while Interlegal partner Irina Voyevodina highlighted principal changes the Ukrainian business will face due to implementation of the Substance concept.

In the framework of section, Alexander Lazarev, Lamarin Director General and customs expert, highlighted prospects for transparent customs service, while AIFFU lawyer Margarita Yurko showed in details principal legislative changes the Ukrainian freight forwarding business will face. Interlegal associate attorney Dmitri Ochkolias presented case study upon successful defense of business interests at the Antitrust Committee of Ukraine. In the end, Stanislavs Zabrockis, Vialet client relations manager, highlighted prospects for payment systems as alternative to standard banking service.
