Pandemic is not an obstacle for vessel sale & purchase! Despite COVID-19 epidemic and quarantine restrictions, spring 2020 was full of deals in fleet sale & purchase. From April to June, Interlegal supported four deals in international vessel sale & purchase (a total of 7 sea & river floating crafts).
Unforeseen circumstances, in particular such as closure of borders and termination of air traffic, affected significantly the standard course of transactions. Non-standard decisions were required, primarily with regard to communication between the parties, remote documentary closing the deals, legalization of documents, physical transfer of vessels and crew changes. Interlegal experts used their experience and efforts, first of all, in order to overcome obstacles caused by quarantine, to secure closing the deals and to respect interests of the parties. Despite objective delays due to self-isolation and suspended operation of governmental bodies, neither contract was terminated and all the deals were closed successfully.
