Interlegal succeeded in pretrial dispute settlement. The Client, engaged in pine timber export to China, applied for defense of its rights and interests under a series of contracts with the Chinese company.
The Client supplied the goods under the Contract on CFR terms in full, followed by partial payment and shortage amounting to 140,000 USD. The Buyer rejected full payment with reference to alleged quality deviations, as detected upon arrival to Taicang Sea Port.
Interlegal lawyers and the Client made a joint decision on claims handling with the Chinese Buyer, in order to avoid escalation of the conflict and arbitration expenses.
Interlegal team facilitated the Seller’s solid position being provided to the Chinese counteragents, who tried to avoid contacting both the Client and the lawyers.
Finally our lawyers contacted the counteragents and held full-scale negotiations (including Skype conferences), resulting in amicable dispute settlement, followed by receiving payment for the goods by the Client within a few days.
Interlegal lawyer Valeria Ivanova represented the Client’s interests in claims handling.
