Lawyers of Interlegal successfully settled a dispute over recovery of damages incurred due to collision of vessels

Client, a foreign shipowner, contacted Interlegal with a request to recover damages incurred as a result of collision of vessels.
Circumstances of the collision of vessels, according to which the client’s vessel, being at berth of the port of Constanta (Romania) was rammed, obviously testified in favor of the client, but the debtor was in no hurry to compensate for the damages.
Taking into account the protracted silence of the debtor, indicating his apparent unwillingness to compensate the client’s expenses, the latter turned to Interlegal for legal assistance.
Interlegal employees, relentlessly following the decencies of maritime traffic, tried to resolve the dispute amicably by preparing a substantiated and detailed claim, which was also ignored by the debtor.
In this case, the only possible way to influence the debtor, which was subsequently implemented, was arrest of the vessel.
After a successful arrest of the debtor`s vessel, the latter, in the person of the P&I club correspondents, entered negotiations, which ultimately led to compensation of all the expenses incurred by the client.
