Full Speed Ahead: Recent Challenges and Solutions for the Shipping Industry

105 delegates from 30 countries arrived in Istanbul (Turkey) to take part in the Legal Transport Conference Full Speed Ahead: Recent Challenges and Solutions for the Shipping Industry jointly organized by the IBA and AIJA.

 

 Young maritime lawyers from the USA, Europe and Asia discussed the issues on shipping, shipbuilding and multimodal carriages since 4 up to 6 November 2010.  

 

Ukraine, Russia, Belorussia as well as other CIS countries were represented by one delegate – Nataliya Myroshnychenko, Senior Lawyer of International Law Offices who is a member of the IBA.

 

 Among the numerous issues and questions being raised during the conference the sessions on shipbuilding contracts, multimodal carriages and choice of law and jurisdiction for transport contracts are worth mentioning. The high interest was raised due to the interactive session where the lawyers from 7 countries proposed their decisions on one problem basing upon their domestic legislation.

 

 By the results of the conference it can be stated that the event is quite useful as it is a way to get new experience and knowledge as well as to establish new contacts with the colleagues from international society.
