Preventing unlawful vessel detention

The Client – foreign charterer applied to Interlegal concerning lawfulness of the actions committed by law enforcement and control bodies in respect of vessel detention at one of the Ukrainian ports.

Work upon the project, study of the documents and information, prompt visit to the site and representation of the Clients’ interests directly at the port during customs formalities resulted in proving unlawfulness of the law enforcement body requirements on detention of the vessel and cargo on board.

As the result, the vessel passed all the formalities related to leaving the port and left Ukraine, while the Client avoided numerous losses due to groundless idle stay with the cargo on board.

Lawyers, attorneys Vitalii Tolstik, Mikhail Selivanov and senior lawyer, attorney Alexey Remeslo led the case.
