Expanding business geography is always a challenge, especially for a new format of cooperation for the company.
Interlegal law team continues to actively support traders in entering new markets and mastering new terms of cooperation. Recently, a Romanian trader, planning to enter into foreign trade contract on FOB terms for the first time, applied to us. Given the differences between this delivery model and standard formats, the client sought to protect itself at the start of a new stage of activity and to receive professional legal support.
Interlegal lawyers conducted due diligence of the contract and identified key risks that could arise during delivery of the goods and mutual settlements. In particular, our law team:
- facilitated correct formulation of the terms of transfer of goods and documents;
- agreed with the counterparty a clear mechanism for shipment confirmation;
- provided recommendations on payment guarantees and force majeure conditions;
- adapted the contract to international standards, with regards to English law specifications.
Our legal support resulted in successful signing and launching the first FOB contract for the client. The goods were shipped in due time, the documents were transferred properly, and the payment was received in full. This allowed the client not only to safely carry out the first transaction, but also to form a solid foundation for further scaling its business in international trade.
Interlegal is a reliable partner of traders and logistics companies worldwide. We help to enter new markets with minimal risks, to develop and to negotiate profitable contracts, and protect clients’ interests in international trade and litigation.
Interlegal partner Aleksey Remeslo and Interlegal Romanian Office lawyer Larysa Roshu led the case.
