On 20 February 2010 the National Round of the Telders International Law Moot Court Competition took place in the premises of Odessa Economic Court of Appeal. Odessa was honoured to gather the best students among the largest institutes of higher education of Ukraine: Kyiv International University, Kievo-Mogilyanska Academy, National University “Ostrozhska Academy”, Karazin Kharkiv National University and Odessa National Juridical Academy.
Most members of this event visited Odessa for the first time. They attended Odessa National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet which really impressed the visitors and inspired them before participation in the competition.
Representatives of two Odessa law firms, International Law Offices and ANK, and Kyiv firms, Arzinger and Asters, were invited as judges of the event.
The competition was supported by Odessa Regional Branch of the Ukrainian Bar Association. Artem Skorobogatov, lawyer of International Law Offices, greeted the competitors on behalf of the Ukrainian Bar Association. He wished every success and victory not only in Odessa, but in the Hague.
International Law Offices was represented by the expert and consultant Vyacheslav Lebedev that had already participated as a judge of the written paperworks last year in Kyiv. Even last year Mr. Lebedev noted high level of the teams consisting of the young lawyers that took part in the Telders national round.
This year the judges appraised the high level of the running the event and were impressed by preparation of the member teams to the competition. That is why the contest for the best team title and getting into the final that would take place in the Hague was quite intense. Each team demonstrated good knowledge of the international law and oratory skills when standing upon their position and giving reasons for the thoughts and ideas.
The team from Kyiv International University coped with that task getting the first place. The second place got Kievo-Mogilyanska Acedemy and the third one – Odessa National Juridical Academy. In spite of the results, all competitors got some experience for their future legal practice. {BR}{BR} The event was supported by Odessa Regional Branch of the Ukrainian Bar Association.
