Interlegal protected interests of the Ukrainian forwarder due to cargo loss in Europe

The Ukrainian forwarder rendered services on carriage of goods by road from Lithuania to Ukraine. In order to perform obligations the Latvian subcontractor was involved. After the loading the contact with actual carrier was lost and trucks did not arrive at the customs territory of Ukraine.

The total amount of losses made up about 100 000 EUR, and was voluntarily reimbursed by the forwarder to its customer in full.

The court proceeding on recovery of damages from the subcontractor was initiated in Latvia in order to defend interests of the Ukrainian forwarder. Due to effective actions of experts from Interlegal which resulted in arrest of the debtor’s accounts and property, the parties settled the dispute amicably.

Forwarder received reimbursement of most of damages and preserved tight commercial relationship with its customer.
