Building trust between society and business

The International Law Offices participated in the presentation of THE GLOBAL COMPACT of December 6, 2007 in the conference-hall of Odessa State Region Administration, where the regional presentation of Global Compact of UNO took placec. The organizers were the Mission of UNO in Ukraine under support of Odessa Chamber of Trade and Commerce.  

The main purpose of the event became the presentation of the Global Compact as the most significant world initiative in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR) to representatives of Odessa business and presentation of the detailed information regarding its development in Ukraine.

The initiative of the similar compact in Ukraine was officially presented in April, 2006 as the starting point for attention attraction of companies to the idea of CSR, support of their social responsible business practices under support of Ukrainian and international companies and high-ranking representatives of the Ukrainian Government. At present the members of the Global Compact are 86 organization, among which are 57 international and Ukrainian companies, 7 business associations, 4 labour and 18 social organizations.

The participants of the presentation were the deputy chairman of Odessa State Region Administration Andrey Tkachuk, the deputy of the mayor Tatyana Fedirko, deputy coordinator of the UNO system in Ukraine Joanna Kazana-Vishnevezkaya, the president of Odessa Chamber of Trade and Commerce Sergey Filatov, directors and representatives of companies.

Mrs. Kazana-Vishnevezkaya noted that the purpose of Global Compact network in Ukraine was the conception development of social responsibility of business in the country and projects of anti-corruption struggle, protection of environment, adhearance to labour standarts and protection of human rights.
