Business-course for young professionals of maritime transport

BUSINESS-COURSE for young professionals of maritime transport was held in Kiev on 21 March 2012

At the beginning of 2012 International Law Offices organized a unique project aimed to share its practical experience with young professionals of transport companies, which are interested in obtaining new knowledge and systematization of the acquired knowledge in the course of their work, practical skills.

 

After a successful business-course in Odessa, it was decided to hold a similar course in Kiev. International Law Offices applied to the biggest transport companies in Kiev, which are also our clients and partners, with the offer to provide training for their young professionals. They agreed vividly, and on 20-21 March Shipping Business-course for young professionals of transport industry was held in the Business Club Belgravia, which is our partner.

 

Business-course is not just unique in its content, but such event was organized in Kiev for the first time.

 

30 participants of the leading transport companies in Ukraine attended the course: Dealex Transport, Cargill, Global Ocean Link, Green Integrated Logistics, Agami, Formag, Ukrrechflot, Noble Resources, Gefco Ukraine, Black Sea Shipping Service, Ukr-China Communication, Turbyon, Imperial.

 

Every day of training was dedicated to three definite topics. The presentations were presented by the leading experts of International Law Offices.

 

Problems connected with situations often arising in companies of maritime industry were disclosed in each lesson. The presentations were based on practical cases and each analysis was finished by a ready solution.

 

The fact that all cases were taken from the daily practice of transport companies, our clients, became the main reason of interest of the participants to this course.

 

Lecturers of the course were the leading experts and partners of International Law Offices: Natalya Myroshnychenko, Nykolay Melnykov, Arthur Nitsevych, Artem Skorobogatov.

 

During the lessons lecturers described in details subjects of agreements in maritime transportation, provisions of charter-party, documents of forwarding agents, claims handling and cargo claims, special features of settlement of disputes in container transportation, examination of disputes in the international arbitration courts, payments (freight, demurrage, etc.), general average and salvage, offshore companies and risks in work with them, exchange of tax information and international sanctions, etc.

 

At the end of each day the material was discussed on case-study.

 

At the end of the course all young professionals were granted with Certificate of participation.

 

It was a common opinion of all participants that such business-course was a useful and important event.
