Discussions at EBA office: future of container carriages

Interlegal jointly with the European Business Association held the seminar “Logistics. Container carriages. Exports” on February 12, 2020.

Over 60 representatives of consignors, freight forwarders, container lines, customs officers and lawyers obtained new skills in container carriage logistics and got familiarized with case studies from container business practice in Black Sea Region.
In section one, Elena Krucherova (Maersk Ukraine) reported about digital future for global supply chains, to be formed by the largest container carrier. Elena presented also Tradelens business platform, facilitating communication between the parties to carriages and accelerating the data sharing process between the parties to cargo transportations.

Panel discussion with Alexander Lazarev (Lamarin), Alexander Chebotarenko (Maersk Ukraine), Olga Lebedeva (DSV Logistics), Karyna Gorovaya and Nataliya Myroshnychenko (Interlegal) touched Interlegal case studies upon cargo transportation in Black Sea Region. Participants discussed the issues concerning liability of various parties to carriages, contractual obligations and force majeure occurring in the process of international cargo transportation.

In section two, experts presented reports about innovations in logistic business. In particular, Interlegal partner Irina Voyevodina showed in details stages of international business creation at foreign jurisdictions and operation principles of the Substance concept.

Alexander Lazarev, LLC Lamarin CEO and co-chairman of the EBA Customs Committee, highlighted business expectations regarding Single Window and Single Account at the customs service, authorized economic operators (AEOs) and NCTS (New Customs Transit System) customs information system, in particular, how such instruments will facilitate the goal of creating transparent customs service.

In the end of the seminar, Interlegal associate attorney Dmitri Ochkolias shared business options for bringing to responsibility state monopolists.
