Interlegal partner Arthur Nitsevych participated in the international conference "Law and logistics: the way forward" held on October, 12-13, in Antwerp, Belgium, organized by the Belgium Forwarders’ Association, Forwarderlaw and Flows.

Arthur Nitsevych presented a report “Forwarders’ risks when transporting cargo to Black Sea countries”. For many years Interlegal has been the Ukrainian part of Forwarderlaw, which is a worldwide network of international transport lawyers servicing international forwarders and logisticians.

Conference was characterized by high level of speakers and themes which not only specified today problems in details but also forecast logistic industry development in the nearest future.

The most interesting themes included the following:

• Forwarder profession has been treated by some international researches as outdated.

• Logistic industry is facing technological revolution which will cause crucial changes at all market levels.

• Competition from market players outside Google, Amazon and Uber, based on their business models, with large-size data processing technologies, Internet stores, robotics, 3D printing – all this will result in unavoidable transformation of logistic industry.

• Both consignors and logistic service providers will have to reinvent, to invest into innovations and to protect large-size data against subversive startups keeping the current business models under pressure.

• All further changes, no doubt, will facilitate changes in legal regime concerning logisticians and logistic services. Logistician’s function and liability will change too – probably it will act as logistic adviser under service agreement.

To sum up, the whole industry is certainly facing the innovation turbulence which will facilitate crucial integration changes. Logistics evolution is going on!
