Maritime Cyprus Conference 2007

Maritime Cyprus Conference has grown into one of the world’s most significant shipping conferences. Its status now gives it a prominent position in the calendar of many shipping executives in the industry, including, owners, managers, and delegates from other shipping service organizations.

 

The Maritime Cyprus 2007 Conference, which has been the tenth, since first established in 1989, had a main theme “Stay Tuned…Shipping New Image”. It also analyzed issues of Training and Retaining of Seafarers and Shipowners´ mission and vision.  

 

The conference was officially opened by the Conference Chairman and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications and Works Mr. Michael Constantinides. Distinguished quests such as the H.E. Adm. Efthymios Mitropoulos, IMO Secretary General and H.E. Mr. Jacques Barrot, Vice-President of the European Commission and Transport Commissioner and other personalities of the International shipping scene debated on the New Shipping Image. The main aim of the “Maritime Cyprus Conference” was to operate as a forum where important and current issues relating to international shipping were presented by distinguished speakers and subsequently discussed by the international shipping community, thereby helping to formulate sound and well balanced decisions and policies on crucial shipping issues.

 

All in all the Conference gathered more than 500 delegates from different parts of the world. The only one person, representing the former USSR countries at the Conference, invited to take part was Arthur Nitsevych, a Partner of International law offices.
