Partner of Interlegal presented a report at the 13th International Conference Oil and Fat Industry 2014

 

Artem Skorobogatov, associated partner of Interlegal, presented a report “Cargo retention by ship owners during sea transportation: How to mitigate risks and losses?” in the framework of the 13^th International Conference “Oil and Fat Industry 2014”.

The expert enlightened in his report peculiarities of cargo retention by carrier – a specific law instrument in dispute settlement.

The report was based on current examples from the rich practice of Interlegal. It contained recommendations for sellers and charterers upon risk mitigation both in Ukrainian and in foreign jurisdictions.

He paid special attention on the issues of settlement between contract/charter parties, retention of bills of lading/certificates and cargo retention after discharge at ports.

 

 

The Conference “Oil and Fat Industry” was held between two seasons, as usual, in order to make conclusions for the past season and to determine business strategy for the new season 2014/15 in new realia. This event traditionally gathered chief national and international agricultural experts, state bodies, industrial organizations, representatives of scientific organizations etc.
