Recently, at the lunch break Interlegal team shared their emptions upon successful case. In the end of discussion, we said, “Everyone should know that ship arrest is Interlegal”. This phrase gives clear explanation of our goal and our result.

There have been quite unique case specifications.

Our Client was charterer of the barge, partially loaded by corn of the Ukrainian origin, while the other holds were filled-in by ballast water to be pumped out, as agreed. However, cargo got soaked in the bow hold (because barge holds were flooded instead of pumping-out) due to the pumping-out vessel’s fault.

Interlegal law team drafted promptly the plan and commenced its performance. First, we detained the vessel at the sea port for three days – therefore, we gained more time for prompt preparation to the following stage. Later, our team committed all the necessary procedural actions aimed at ship arrest. The court recognized our arguments and evidence as acceptable and arrested the vessel.

However, the vessel owners contacted us as soon as possible and proposed amicable settlement. As the result, Interlegal lawyers defended the Client’s interests, which resulted in loss recovery and vessel release.

Interlegal has proved once more that we are faster, more accurate, more experienced and more efficient: that is why Ship Arrest is Interlegal.

Interlegal associate attorney Taras Dragan & junior lawyer Mariia Kalashnikova, managed by associated partner Karyna Gorovaya, led the case.
