Interlegal released cargo retained by customs office
The Client, foreign trader, applied to Interlegal on cargo retention by customs office grounded on the order of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine
24 containers with goods in aggregate amount of 366,000 USD were stored at the sea port.
By the order of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, customs office adopted decision on cargo inspection, followed by entering into database the note on prohibition to export all the above containers.
For over two months, the Client tried to settle the problem by itself but incurred daily losses amounting to 800 USD. Without any success, the Client decided to apply to experts for assistance.
Having analyzed the documents, Interlegal lawyers detected numerous violations of the Ukrainian law by state authorities and drafted the Client’s interest defense tactics. First stage was pretrial dispute settlement by filing legal opinion to law enforcement and control bodies.
Within 5 business days, Interlegal lawyers facilitated obtaining permit to load and to export the goods from Ukraine.
Interlegal associate attorney Vitalii Tolstik and junior lawyer Nikita Kocherba led the case.
